THE BUDDHA

Siddhattha Gautama, born into a royal family in ancient Nepal, existed around the sixth century BCE. He grew up sheltered from the harshness of the world, yet finally yearned enlightenment from the cycle of birth. After years of meditation, he achieved enlightenment under a Bodhi tree. As the Buddha, he began to proclaim his knowledge to all who
